My name is Ankhesen Mié and I'm a writer. I have Gothic tendencies and a thing for femme fatales in games, film, television, and literature. Though I write original fiction, I've accepted the fact that I'm a nerd and I like writing fanfiction as well.
Why Fanfiction?
Fanfiction, or fan-fixtion in some circles, is a great form of expression. It's an excellent way to explore what if's and why not's, and for marginalized peoples to represent themselves. In fanfiction, that awesome female/gay/transgendered/POC secondary character who appeared in an episode or two, or in a single season, or for 10-20 minutes in a film becomes the star. With fanfiction, it's not about the money and all about the narrative. Either you're good or you're not, and for writers who publish original fiction, well-written fanfiction is a great way to reward your fans.
Why a Whole Blog?
I tried Live Journal, but it just bugged me. Fanfiction.net is a pain in the ass to edit. So far, Blogger's been the least hassle. Also...hello, freedom!!!
What to Expect
Expect the main characters to be women of color. Expect for 95% of the focus to be on them. If you dislike the characters of choice, or the person they're paired with, or the story altogether...tough. Snarky comments will be deleted - end of story.
Embrace yo' nerdiness. It's liberating. But you know this, chica! I love this idea. I would do it, but my stories are way too damn long.
